2017 Vertical Tasting Menu

2010 Classic Pinot noir:   $55 btl

                               Harvest Oct. 12th & 16th   | 27% POM, 30% 777, 43% 667  | Brix 22.1, Alc. 13.3%, pH 3.49 | 150 cases produced

The 2010 growing season began with a relatively dry and warm winter highlighted by above average temperatures for January and February followed by a cool Spring and early but temperate Summer leading to reduced crops, smaller berry size and slow maturation.  An Indian summer that began in early October and lingered through month’s end allowed for physiological maturity and complexity of flavor to develop delivering balanced fruit with full flavor development, lower brix (and thus alcohol) levels, and great acidity.

Our 2010 has retained its brilliant fruit notes of dark red currant with a spicy backbone of cinnamon and nutmeg.  The mouth is complex while the medium body and silky tannin structure all serve to continue to deliver a liveliness and purity of fruit at lower alcohols than had been seen for some time.

2011 Classic Pinot noir:   $55 btl

                               Harvest Oct. 28th  | 50% POM, 50% 777 | Brix 22.9, Alc. 13.1%, pH 3.49 | 165 cases produced

2011 was a “typical” Oregon growing season fraught with challenges including powdery mildew, botrytis bunch rot, deer and birds. But most disrupting of all was the weather; Spring was very cool and wet with bloom delayed until July and a Summer which never heated up.  Sugars developed slowly and fingernails were chewed to the quick.  However, vigilant canopy practices and a September which was among the three warmest until that time led to a quality crop.  Alcohols were generally low, and about the same as in 2010, but the grapes had a surprising level of color and depth of flavor.

This wine continues to be balanced and very characteristic of the vintage with soft tannins and beautiful bright red fruit aromas with notes of raspberry and a hint of vanilla. The mid palate is smooth with long and silky tannins supported by an approachable acid structure.

2012 Classic Pinot noir:   $55 btl

                               Harvest Oct. 5th  | 83% POM, 17% 777 | Brix 23.8, Alc. 13.9%, pH 3.78 | 136 cases produced

2012 began in a similar fashion to 2011 with cool temperatures, some sporadic weather and smaller berries however that is where the similarities end.  Over 110 days of consistently dry and warm weather began at the end of June and continued through October resulting in slow and even ripening.  Greater skin to juice ratio due to the smaller berries along with a smaller yield led to an amazing concentration of flavors and color while the gradual phenolic development prevented a loss of acid in the fruit.  Calm weather led to ideal unhurried fermentations resulting in wines intense in color and depth of flavor.  The 2012 is among the most lauded vintages to date.

Our 2012 is a prime example of the vintage.  Featuring a deep blueberry color hue which draws the eye, the nose then opens on notes redolent with ripe strawberries.  The mouth feel is round and lush while the palate is a study in concentrated stone fruits.  The finish is long and velvety with well integrated tannins.

2012 Trinity Pinot noir:   $75 btl

                               Harvest Oct. 5th  | 66% POM, 34% 115 | Brix 23.8, Alc. 13.9%, pH 3.78 | 73 cases produced

Crafted from those barrels which we judged to be the “best of the best,” our 2012 Trinity features our Pommard clone as the star for its depth of color, aromatics and lush flavor profile while our 115 clone serves as the backbone of this powerful yet elegant wine.  The wine opens with aromas of still vibrant cherry, while the palate offers notes of tobacco, vanilla and allspice.  Acids remain bright and carry a long pleasing finish.  Truly a stellar vintage performer.

Dec 17, 2017   12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Our tasting room will be closed for our Wine Club Vertical Tasting and Library sale.  This is the time of the year where we figuratively "brush the dust" off of our library wines and bring them out for tasting and, for select Library Wines, sale.  This is a great way to see how that special bottle you have been saving is cellaring or to procure a no longer available favorite.

If you aren't yet a Wine Club member, find a friend who is and come along as their guest (a $20/person tasting fee for non members will be charged) or, better yet, get signed up so that you can enjoy this event as well as the other benefits afforded to Wine Club members!
